ZoomALL | Final Project

My Final Project was in cooperation with Gazit Globe and was based on the original shopping center "G" loacated in Yavne.

The structure of the mall imitates human walking so that is why its form is a ruler form which seeks to create vertical simple movement,  in which the buyer will know where he is and where he is going and reach easily from place to place. This form creates a monotonous and predictable experience.

This principle guided me in building the mall.

In addition, in the mall there are spaces which are visible to the visitor at one glance and there is a need to create a sense that from every angle the visitor gets a different and new perspective about the space. So, I created partitions which separate the shops as their shaping creates a sense of zooming in the inner space. Their geometric structure imitates the legality of the structure of camera zoom.

In addition, the same geometry is expressed in the form of walls of the structure, light fixtures, showcases, seating areas, planters, and social gathering areas. This geometry develops throughout space and with each step of the visitor he finds new interest in the building.

With the help of  the sunlight that changes direction at any given moment and creates a game of light and shadow, I created a "track" where the visitor can make his way inside the building. Same sun beams penetrating through the slits structure actually create a flow in the interior space, stimulation and curiosity and make one to want to proceed and find out what's next. Gradual Exposure while in motion creates a new experience.

Gradual Exposure
Final Project | Mid Semester Presentation

The Design concept is a part of the process of my thesis in my fourth year of studies. My thesis says that immidiate exposure in a mall creates lack of interest, while gradual exposure-while in motion contributes to the interest and attraction and creates a new experience.
